Open-records requests must be written and should include the requestor's full name, phone number, return address, email if used, and enough record detail to identify the incident or booking, such as names, dates, times, and locations. The sheriff's open-records page asks requestors to cite Georgia public-record law, including the Open Records Act at O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 through 50-18-72. A response is expected within three business days, excluding weekends and holidays, with an estimated cost before processing. Forms are also posted on the sheriff's forms page.
